Iranian Box Office boosts sales over last year

Iranian cinema has made a record of about $43.62 million last Iranian year, 23 percent more than last year.

The best-selling movie in Iranian theaters last year was the Oscar-winning acclaimed movie ‘The Salesman’ directed by Asghar Farhadi.

Farhadi’s movie made a total of 161.05 billion rials (almost $4.3 million) after 18 weeks screening in local movie theatres.

Injecting private sector budget and racing at a large number of international events, Iran’s cinema industry has seen a solid boost during the past three years.

Iranian films have sold 613 billion rials (more than $16.3 million) in the Iranian fiscal March 2014-15 and 733 billion rials (more than $19.5 million) in March 2015-16.
